Mockingjay!!!

Finally, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins comes out today!

To be honest, I haven't even read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire yet. I first heard about these books awhile ago, but when I found out that they were dystopian type novels, I was a little turned off by them.

Ever since high school forced me to read books like 1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, I kind of started to not like dystopian novels.

But I keep hearing all this good stuff about The Hunger Games trilogy that I now want to read these books. So I waited until Mockingjay comes out so I can buy all three of them at the same time.

If you haven't ordered this book yet, go stop by your local Borders or Barnes & Noble. Or if your eyes are glued to your computer, order it here at Amazon

Once I get my copy of these books, I'll post a review of all three.

  2. Yay! BTW these books are not going to be like anything you read in school.

  3. I loved the first one. Then I was told to wait until the third one came out to read the second one, because it ended on a cliffhanger. But I forgot to take it on vacation, so I'm just starting it. Book III hasn't been delivered anyway.

I can't wait to hear what you think after you read the first book.

  4. I was a little turned off by the dystopian theme at first (not generally something I enjoy) but I finally gave in and read Hunger Games. I just downloaded Catching Fire to my kindle so that I'll be prepared for Mockingjay when I get it this week! I can't wait to see what you think of them. (I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Hunger Games.)

  5. They're awesome. I was sure I'd be disappointed but they lived up to the hype... and some.

  6. Love this series! And, sadly, I have to now go look up dystopian. You are the 2nd person to say it today and they weren't even in the same context. This will be my something new to learn for the day!

  8. I read Hunger Games over the weekend (finally -- ahead of, or alongside of, the curve!) and I liked it enough that I want to read the others. Not sure if I will right away though.
I know what you mean about dystopian (so much easy to tear down than build up, isn't it?) novels but it's a good read and somewhat thought-provoking.

  9. I read the first two, and loved the first book. The second book was good, but I didn't love it the way I loved the first book. We shall see how MJ rounds out the arc. I'll be picking it up later today.

    Enjoy!

Oh, and I'm new here. *waves*

  10. I was hesitant about reading these novels as well, but was immediately hooked after 50 or so pages of Catching Fire. Picked up Mockingjay today & I can't wait to begin it.

  11. Hahhah,

I actually haven't read the series either. I am hoping to soon. They sound good.

I am new to dystopians. I am really sad that you didn't like 1984 it was amazing. :(

  12. I got my copy of Mockingjay at Target the day after it came out- I was tempted to preorder it but I haven't had good luck with getting preordered books in a timely manner. I hope you enjoy the books- there are so many good dystopian stories out now!

I'm stopping by from the blog hops, have a great weekend!
